Hello. I have a strange computer behavior that I think is virus related. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm trying to un-install Qhost.adp.trojan. I got instructions from the F-Prot web site (f-prot.com). The instructions require that I run regedit. When I go Start/Run/regedit, the regedit window opens and 2 seconds later spontaneously closes again. This behavior repeats if I do Start/Run/regedit. Consequently, I can't access the registry and can't do the Qhost uninstall (or any other registry business for that matter!)

Does anyone know what I can do about this? Thanks

From what I understand Qhost is preventing you from accessing Anti Virus Programs........ Try the 2 online scans that Grinler linked you to, in your "Newbie Looking For Suggestions" post........ Does notepad open? Cause like I told you you probably need to download and run Hijack This. And you will need copy and paste the HJT Log into a HJT post from notepad. Important! ....Do not touch any entries in Hijack This untill you hear from a HJT Team Member. Good Luck!.... Edit: If by chance you do get ......Regedit to open, Id still wait for some expert help. Changing things in the Registry can completly screw up you whole system if you do not know what you are doing.

Have you tried to open regedit in Safe Mode?

Yup, try some online scans first as scarlett recommends:

Please run two online virus scans:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.
