I was just wondering if anyone would know if it is possible to turn off the text messaging feature in the samsung sph-a460 cell phone? I keep getting text messages from of all places, my service provider. I have called them to tell them to stop and i keep getting the same hoopla from them, so if there is a way to disable the feature i will. I have checked the manual but i cant find anything refering to turning off the feature.

I have been unable to find a way to disable the texting feature within the phone. If you do not use texting as a feature why not have your service provider remove it as an option in your calling plan?

Hi Animal, i couldnt find it either. I thought that maybe i was just missing it in the manual. I use phone card in my phone so it is not a feature in my plan. I guess i'll just have to live with it. Just thought i could disable it so i wouldnt be charged for text if someone texts me. Thanks for checking though, i appreciate it

Well I do not think you will receive any texts other than their spam. If you do tell them as you cannot be chaged for texts if you do not have the service.. Lucky us we all are not charged for their joyous messages.

I have a barebones plan with sprint and no text options, I went for over a year and a half getting texts that I would be charged for until I found the right helper at Sprint that blocked them for me on their system.

Whatever he did worked, not one more in almost 2 years

I have a Samsung phone. I think different model.
As far as I understand, text stuff is part of the service, not the phone.
When I was getting crap text messages for which I HAD TO PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I just stopped the text service with the provider.
BUT,
guess what, If I now want to find out minutes used, they send a text message back. Text messages are now blocked. Blocked so I can't even get the provider's message. That is a brilliant marketing strategy, isn't it.

That said, they refunded me roughly 15 cents per text messages I was getting from criminals roaming free out there
