This is my first post and I am new at trying to fix my computer myself.

I was having problems with trying to go from my home page to any other link. It would redirect me or jump me to another site.

I called our local university IT program director and he suggested:

Run Combofix
Download SuperAntispyware
Malware AntiMalwarebytes

I did the above and it seems to have fixed the problem but I ran it in under the administrator so when I switch users I get an error message: Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this programs service to stop. To start the service restart your computer or search Help and Support. Click OK

And if I try to open malwarebytes: Error code 707(2) OK

So do I need to run ComboFix, SuperAntispyware, and Malware under the other user name also?

I did save the ComboFix log if you need to see it.

I have a HP tower that uses windows xp.

Hi,

First: I see you have used ComboFix before you came to us. I want to inform you that the execution of ComboFix, without supervision from a trained helper, can have very harmful effects on your computer.
ComboFix is a powerful tool, that can, without supervision from one of us, make your system (partly) corrupt. So I advise you to don't use this tool, and our other tools, in the future anymore without supervision.
So tell this to the director

Yes, please do a full scan with MBAM under one of the user accounts, and post the logfile.
