I seem to have problems with installing this tool. I go thru the installation process and windows says it was successful, but it keeps coming back as needing to be installed. I went to the run promp and typed in MRT.exe, but I keep getting "windows cannot access specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." I don't get this message on anything else. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Proteus7, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

After you have installed it are you rebooting the computer?

If you are having problems with an infection you may wish to post a topic in the Am I infected forum.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Yes, I did reboot and then the icon comes up to tell me that I have this to install again. I just had it cleaned of an infection the guy said that some of the registry was corrupted but he had fixed the problem. I was thinking that maybe this part of the registry was still screwed up.
