**Unsure if this is the precise place but, since I know I'm infected, I figured this was the best place to go. This might be a slight long as I want to explain the whole scenario as best I can**

Alright folks, I know I'm infected with "Trojan.SVCHost/Fake". The trojan was initially picked up by SUPERAntiSpyware LAST NIGHT in which I opted to remove it. Initially I was comfortable knowing it was "removed" but, within hours after removal I began to experience some odd computer behavior. I scanned again with SAS and it brought up 0 results. So I scanned with SS&D, no results other than the usual cookie stuff. Scanned with AVG - nada.

I commonly browse with Google's Chrome browser and at times can have upward of 15 tabs open(severe ADD). But just last night, after the removal, my browser would seize or totally freeze up on webpages I navigate to on a regular basis which eventually lead me to have to end the chrome processes. I thought that maybe it was just a memory issue or something but, it continued to happen at different intervals with a different amount of pages open. It would freeze 30m in or 2 hours in. 1 page open or 5. I attempted to use my Opera browser - same thing.

Also, I've noticed that every time I attempt to load my P2P program(uTorrent), it immediately begins to go into "Not Responding" mode and I'm forced to kill it. uTorrent likes to sit in the Systemtray when its not up on the screen but when I would try to bring it up - it would begin to "Not Respond" again.

I knew something was wrong, as I'm pretty cautious of what I download, use, etc...so I went to the log file in SAS, found the name, and started Googling. Google lead me to VirusTotal.com - after that, I decided to locate where this thing came from. I eventually found the folder & file hidden in my Photoshop folder. So, I uploaded that "SVCHOST.exe" to VirusTotal and received two results:

1. Suspicious(DNAScan); seemed like a typical return after doing more google work.
2. High Risk Cloaked Malware; obviously COULD be my issue afterall

So, the VT result lead me to Prevx which I downloaded, installed, and ran a scan. Sure enough - it picked up the .EXE file but also found something that SAS didn't seem to: "unrar.dll" in "C:\Windows\System32\

Seeing this, I came here so I can hopefully wipe this thing off my PC. I must admit, the .rar that the svchost.exe was originally in was deleted once I found out that it came from that particular RAR file. SO, here we go!

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE
