I am trying to delete a rootkit? in order to remove some malware on my computer by running MBAM. My computer will not let me run it or Norton and is also not allowing me to access sites found through search engines. Rather it is directing me to weird companies selling guns, music, etc.

I think that it is from msb.exe. I am clearly a computer novice but think that I can fix this issue by running MBAM. Apparently I need to delete the rootkit before MBAM can be opened to find and remove the malware. I am using RootRepeal and was told through a prior thread that I need to scan for files and delete the .sys files with certain letter combinations in the name. When I go to scan for files none come up!

Does anyone know what is going on or better yet how a novice can remove this msb.exe problem? Right now I cannot search on google or do many other things because of this malware. Also the computer is super slow. The following is a link to the post that I read that looks to be very helpful:

Please help!! Thank you so much to all who suggest any solutions!

We use that here also
Unfortunately, It has no effect over the newer rootkit that 's not out there
We are recommending a DDS / HJT log

Please read the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Pseudo HJT Report as part of its log.

When you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.

The HJT team is very busy and it will take awhile to get to your post
Please be patient and good luck
