Problem number 1:

I cannot seem to get my ICS service to start (nor the Windows firewall, although that is less of a concern)

Upon trying to start the service I receive the following message"

"Could not start the Windows
Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer.

Error 5: Access is denied.

I am the only user of the computer and have admin rights so I do not understand why this is happening. I have no idea where to start here.

Problem 2:

I cannot get any sound out of my computer. It says I have no sound mixer installed and I cannot seem to get it from the installation discs the computer came with.

I have attempted reinstalling sound drivers and some other drivers but nothing seems to work.

Problem 3:

Often, like everyday, my svchost.exe usage goes through the roof and my computer gets super slow. It just suddenly started doing this and I have haven't really been doing anything differently.

Problem 3 sounds like you may have picked up an infection. That may be the cause of problem 1.

You may want to read and post here first.
