Is there a program available that is not an invasive keylogger... that will allow the tracking of online converstations our kids are engaging in over the internet? This has become a security issue with my teenage children at a grave level of concern. I know msn and icq can be turned on to record chat files but I have found nothing on myspace or facebook... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If I have posted this thread in the wrong area... I am sorry. Perhaps a mediator can assist me in finding the correct location for this topic. Thank you.

Well if they do something wrong on myspace and facebook why not on other sites? You should go for the full spying experience.

But you think it through. Yes programs are "stealth" and you can probably organize collection and invisible study of data, but what will happen if kids find out you have been lurking all the time? May be you are getting bored with logs because they are clean. Who will be the problem then? I have not tried these program but if I wanted to use them for I would test a lot - if there is even a slim risk of them detecting log-program they will.

Usually when it comes to kid the trick is to set up limited user accounts, block certain sites with Opendns or use Parental control build in Vista or avail. from Windows Live (family safety) http://windowslive.com/Desktop/FamilySafety Besides trying to communicate rules to them. Keylogs and screenshots is one step further. I think it is spying not monitoring when we talk teens but not illegal to do of course. Matter of circumstances I guess. Not much difference to this and the type of malware being removed in other forums. If they have done something warranting extensive monitoring may be better to just shut computer off?

Google "myspace facebook chat logger monitoring" or similar but dont jump at offers. I searched on a software site for those 2 above. Think there are many scam site about this if you just go by random Google hits. You better be sure also these programs are truly stealth.

This look a bit more pro and detailed http://www.spectorsoft.com/ but check pc magazine even knows this. Could be bogus.
