I deleted all the files in my Windows Media Player folder, it rolled back to version 6.4.09 and I can't reinstall version 9 or 10. When I try installing any WMP 7 or higher, it gives me an error saying "Windows Media Technologies: This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft web site."

Then I am offered CANCEL or DETAILS. Details just takes me to Help and Support Center and the WMP website saying the same incompatibility issue.

Any help is appreciated thank you.

Try going to the add/remove programs in the control panel and removing whatever you have there that relates to the media player - then go to

http://search.microsoft.com/search/results...Media+Player+10

and try to redownload Media Player 10.
