computer will not boot up

I have a IBM T 30 windows had some problem I was on a process of reinstalling windows it hang and give me an error message saying the hard drive is damaged. I replace the hard drive and the laptop will not boot up. I try to boot the laptop using the old hard drive it wont boot up. I check the memory. The power light comes on any suggessions.

Check if the harddrive is detected in BIOS...Did you get any error message when you connected the new harddrive??
