I ran ComboFix because my computer had some serious virus. I found ComboFix through another site and did not see the disclaimer about using it under the instruction of professionals.

The virus i had before showed up on AVG as Trojan Horse Crypt.EML. However, AVG couldn't get rid of it. The site i found just told me just to run ComboFix and it would work.

Anyways, ComboFix ran fine and generated a log report.

After I ran ComboFix, all my programs wouldn't work and instead said "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." Nothing would work including DDS or any other programs.

The only way i could get my programs to work was to run sfc /scannow and reboot my computer. My programs now work fine and programs open but a couple things are still very strange.

For Example:
  • I have a red "x" over my network icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen, when i drag the mouse over the icon it says "connection status: unknown Access is denied" even though i am connected to the net and able to load pages.
  • When I try to access the "Network and Sharing Center" it pulls up the screen yet instead of showing a map of my internet connection it simply says "Access is denied."
  • I also cannot create a new user account. When the screen prompts you to "name your account" i enter a normal name and it pops us a box that says "The specified account name is not valid, because account names cannot contain the following characters..." No name or letter will work because i always get the same error box. It wont even let me change the account picture without freezing.
  • Also, when i go to my "Backup and Restore Center" there is no button for me to push or select to actually back up my files.
  • I am the only user on this computer, no other accounts are loaded, and i am the Administrator. However, the computer acts like i am a guest and is just generally running slow.
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on a HP Pavilion dv9700

I originally posted this in the "Am i infected? What do i do?" forum and they sent me over here.

Can somebody please help me fix this???

I have attached the ark.txt and attach.txt files and posted the contents of the DDS.txt file below.

Thanks-

Here is the contents of the DDS.txt

All of the below information is current:

1.I have a red "x" over my network icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen, when i drag the mouse over the icon it says "connection status: unknown Access is denied" even though i am connected to the net and able to load pages.

2.When I try to access the "Network and Sharing Center" it pulls up the screen yet instead of showing a map of my internet connection it simply says "Access is denied."

3.I also cannot create a new user account. When the screen prompts you to "name your account" i enter a normal name and it pops us a box that says "The specified account name is not valid, because account names cannot contain the following characters..." No name or letter will work because i always get the same error box. It wont even let me change the account picture without freezing.

4.Also, when i go to my "Backup and Restore Center" there is no button for me to push or select to actually back up my files.

5.I am the only user on this computer, no other accounts are loaded, and i am the Administrator.

Thanks-
