Computer Shut Down In Safe Mode

I tried to run my Anti-virus program and spy bot Search and destroy in safe mode
but, before they can finish, my computer shuts down completely.
Any ideas?
I have windows XP SP 3
I have run Spy bot search and destroy and my virus program in normal mode.
