I have tried and cannot get rid of this no matter what I do and I need help

I got so far as to get Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware downloadedand when I tried to install it, it hung at 100% and when I finally ended task on it, the ending screen came up but there wasnt any options to run t eupdate or the program. Since it put the desktop icon on, I tried running it. It shows the mbam.exerunning but nothing is happening. SO I tried to install it again and about half way through it locks up. This thing wont let me open any of my av's, etc.

I tried following these steps to get rid of it:

Rename this file:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

to this:

winlogon.exe

Then double-click the renamed file and see if it will run.
