I have been helping a friend with his Dell Inspirion B130 Laptop. It is running Windows XP Home Edition. It has 512 megs of RAM.

He had over 84 Trojan Viruses on the computer and it was in such bad shape that I thought it would have to be reformated. In Safe Mode I was
able to install AVG 8.0 and it cleaned all of the Trojan Viruses except some Malware titled "Antispyware 2010". I have read in this forum that the answer
is to use Malawarebytes. I have used this program faithfully with my computer at home and it does really a good job.

The problem I am having is that on the Dell B130 laptop whenever I install Malawarebytes it goes through setup and installation fine. It even updates the definitions. When I try to run the progam (even with quick scan) the program sits for a minute and then it just stops. It is totally knocked off the desktop. In SafeMode I get a message that I do not have proper authority to run the program. I've installed and removed this program over and over again and just can't seem to get it to work.

I would sure appreciate any ideas that one of you might have on how I can get Malawarebytes to install and/or how to get rid of this damn Antispyware 2010.

Thanks in advance for all ideas.

Rename this file:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

to this:

winlogon.exe

Then double-click the renamed file and see if it will run.
