Thanking you all in advance.
I have a Dell Optiplex running XP SP2.
There are numerous problems but I am most concerned currently with WMP10 not working.
When I start WMP it will open just fine and show my library (at what fits on the screen). But then if I click anywhere on WMP I get the hourglass and grey task bar at the top, and I have to manually close it, with the 'end task'.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing WMP11 with the rollback to WMP10. Also after installing WMP11, it does the same thing.
I know this is very vague but it is the best I can describe it.
I currently have the same problem with IE7, Outlook and Windows Live Messenger.
Stuff I have done....
I have run disk-defrag. Also by some advice from co-wokers I have run chkdsk\r from the command prompt.
I have tried to do a system restore to a previous date, but I have tried at least 20 different dates and all come up with the message that my computer can not be restored to that date.
On a scale of 1-10 on computers I am about a 5 so I will try anything to fix this.
If I left any important information out please let me know and I will try to supply it.
I hope this is in the correct section, if not please accept my apologies and move to correct forum
Thanking you all again for your assistance.

EDIT: Moved to more appropriate forum
