Posted 17 August 2009 - 07:20 PM

I have pickup a Win32 Trojan Tdss according to Ad Aware, but it will not remove it. I am uploading the latest AdAware Scan Log.

So far two main symptoms are:
1. In IE and (sometimes) Mozilla Firefox, my searches are redirected to sites trying to sell be software tools.
2. My computer keeps trying to open IE and go to websites that stream audio files to my computer.

I've read a few other posts and have already downloaded ComboFix.

I now need further guidance from someone with experience.

Thanks in advance!

I forgot to post the DDS.txt file as follows:

Hello! :thumbup2:
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I'll ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Important!
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Sam-
Thanks for the quick response! Since this computer is my computer was on a network, we made the decision to reformat. I have viruses and such!

However, do you have a recommendation for a anti-virus, anti-spam solution?

Thanks!

If you are looking for a security suite that will cover all your bases, I've liked Zone Alarm's package. I do not recommend going with the rest of the pack and getting Norton. It's better than it was, but I'm still not a fan.
