I don't know if I have one, or multiple, problems. A few days ago I realized I was infected with Windows Antivirus Pro. I am running AVG Free as my antivirus. AVG did not detect Windows Antivirus Pro. I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes. Between the two of those, it found a bunch of infections related to Windows Antivirus Pro - so I though I was okay. I also deleted some items that using the command prompt. These were found by the Kaspersky free online scan, which does a scan but doesn't do removal. I hope I didn't make things worse by deleting them via the command prompt.
Now, when I do a Google search, and I click on a link in the results I am often redirected to some miscellaneous sites. It doesn't always happen, but often happens. The other problem (not sure if it's related) is that I will sometimes get the My Computer Online Scan (screen shows a bogus scan running and says I have all kinds of infections) when I click one of the search result links. Are the browser redirects and the My Computer Online Scan related? Do I need to fear for my personal information? Is this a keylogger? Any help I can get is sooooo appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Hello Beganto :thumbup2: Welcome to the BC HijackThis Log and Analysis forum. Sorry about your wait, but I will be assisting you in cleaning up your system from here on out.

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those we suggest while we are performing the clean-up. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond the your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

I need to get a little different look at your system so please perform the following:

We need to scan for Rootkits with GMER
  • Please download GMER from one of the following locations, and save it to your desktop:
    • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
    • Zip Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Close any and all open programs, as this process may crash your computer.
  • Double click Posted Image or Posted Image on your desktop.
  • Allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • You may see this window. If you do, click No.
    Posted Image
  • Click on Posted Image and wait for the scan to finish.
  • If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • Push Posted Image and save the logfile to your desktop.
  • Copy and Paste the contents of that file in your next post.

Please do not post any logs as an attachment unless asked to do so.

Thanks,

thewall

Hello thewall,

Let me thank you up front for your time and help. I downloaded GMER and attempted to run it. Twice it crashed my computer. Now when I start the pc, I get all kinds of errors and multiple occurences of Windows Police Pro malware.
Even if I end the malware using Task Manager, it comes right back up so quickly I can't do anything else. So I started the pc in safe mode and tried to run GMER. It still crashes with the blue screen saying the problem is caused by aujasnkj.sys

Thanks,
beganto

You're welcome for the help and we'll try our best to get you cleaned up. These new rootkits which have been unleashed on the public are a real problem to deal with and they are not only aiming them at the computer they are also targeting all of our removal tools. In other words these people who write this stuff don't care, if they can't make money in a nefarious way they have no problem with totally wrecking your computer.

With all of that said let's try a different approach. First delete the copy of GMER that you have and try one from the following location. If it won't work just let me know and we'll go from there:

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop.
  • Double click the exe file.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

    Posted Image
Click the image to enlarge it

  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply.
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Tried to run that version of GMER - same thing happens. PC crashes and blue screen claims it has to do with aujasnkj.sys
The crash always happens while GMER is scanning the C: drive.

As a side note... everything I try to run now generates an Error pop-up that just lists the path to the executable in the text area of the pop-up. Even GMER does this. I am guessing that these are fake/false errors??

Most all of the popups are probably being cause by the Malware.

Let's try this next:

Please save this file to your desktop. Click on Start->Run, and copy-paste the following command (the bolded text) into the "Open" box, and click OK. When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop. Please open it with notepad and post the contents here.
"%userprofile%\desktop\win32kdiag.exe" -r

This log can be quite lengthy at times.

No luck with Win32kDiag. When I try to run it, I get one of those Error popups and then nothing else happens - it doesn't run. Anything else I try to do causes an Error popup, but I am usually able to proceed with what I am trying to open. So I don't know if the popup has anything to do with why Win32kDiag won't run for me.

Delete the file you downloaded and then download it again. This time rename it to WinDiag.com and try to proceed with the instructions.

I saved the file as WinDiag.com then tried to run it (substituting "%userprofile%\desktop\windiag.com" -r for
"%userprofile%\desktop\win32kdiag.exe" -r). It quickly spit out the following in a log file.

Log file is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\Dad and Mom\Desktop\Win32kDiag.txt

That was a good stab at it but I'm not sure if that is all there is on your system or the log did not run properly. We are going to try one more thing and see if it will produce a better log.

Again delete the version of the file you have and download another to your Desktop, you shouldn't have to worry about renaming it. When you have done this download the following file to your Desktop. After doing so drag the first file over to Inherit and drop it there. As soon as you do that try running win32kdiag the way you did the first time. If this is unsuccessful you can try it again but rename the file(not the inherit one) like you did last time and give it a try. If you do this you should not have to redownload the Inherit file.

Inherit

I tried using Inherit and still get the same thing - even in safe mode. By the way, I get the Error pop-ups in safe mode too.
I also tried running this in "safe mode with command prompt" - same thing.

I was just looking in my C:\Windows directory and I found the Prefetch directory. I can tell you that some of the stuff in there is stuff that is malware that is on my machine.
For example:
DESOTE.EXE-30F48E81.pf
SVCHASTS.EXE-1901230F.pf
WINDOWS POLICE PRO.EXE-02BA6DE5.pf

Not sure if this is useful info.

Yes, those look like infections and we may have to try this a different way.

Let's try ComboFix first. Rename it to Combo-Fix.com before installing.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Instruction can be found HERE
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Posted Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
