I am installing XP Home on a HP ZE4560US
80 gig hard drive

It is asking me how much space to allow for the partition.

It shows a maximum space of 76,309

I usually create a 20GB partition for XP, installed programs, and critical updates installed.

I don't put much of anything else on my C: partition and I generally have 8-11GB of free space available (after disabling hiberfil.sys and system restore, which I don't use).

If you use System Restore, I'd still go with a 20GB partition for XP.

After XP is installed, I would use Disk Management to format the rest as a storage partition.
