Depends on the distance from the computer to the router, number of walls between the computer and router, and the technology being used (A,B,G,Draft N). If your hardcore gaming Wired is defiantly better.

Sneakycyber, thanks for your reply. I'll try to Make my query clearer:
I bought a Desktop equiped with wireless a,b,g,n.
The distance from the computer to the router: the router is on top of the computer= zero;
Number of walls between the computer and router: an open door and smal wall on the same floor, distance 50 feet.
The second computer is a laptop bought at the same time as the desktop, wireless with the same technology; the router is a Linksys;
The signal is 100% to the laptop.
My qestion was: is it better to hook the desktOp directly to one of the four ports of the router; the signal to the laptop is 100%.
I wonder why use wireless beetween the desktop and the router, I was under the impression that the first computer near the router can be hard wired (with the cord supplied by the manufacturer of the router.
