I realized about a year ago that my current system was a piece of junk. 6200 Nividia, 512mb Ram etc. So I have just now saved enough to get a decent computer (I hope). I think I know what I'm doing but would like to know if my current build will work.

My current build is:

RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WB Black 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case - Retail
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor Model ADX250OCGQBOX
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA3.0Gb/s - OEM

For now I plan on using my old Mouse, KB and Monitor and am going to use a friends Nividia 9750 for GFX.

The Item names come directly from my Newegg Cart.

I can spend up to $500 and am at $435 so if you have a suggestion on a different part please don't hesitate.

Thanks for the help

Looks good, though if you had the cash I would go for the AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz. The 550 has better performance than the Athlon II for a marginal increase in cost. Or, you can go higher and get the AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz.

My Disc and Hard Drive are both OEM. What cords do I need for these to connect? Just Sata to Sata?

The OEM thing shouldn't matter in connecting the HDD and optical drive. You can check to see whether they use PATA (IDE) or SATA. That motherboard, a nice one BTW, allows for two PATA (IDE) devices to connect to it in addition to six SATA devices. Looking at your build list, the description for the HDD you are referring to says it is a SATA drive. I don't know which optical drive you want but a SATA drive would be best in terms of performance. All OEM means, in this case, is that you will get the drive and nothing else, no instruction booklet, no screws, no added accessories, nothing. The necessary data cables should come with the motherboard.
