Hello, all. I'm fairly new to BleepingComputer, but I desparately need some help in fixing my computer. Around mid-July, I became infected by PerfectDefender 2009, which I removed promptly thanks to the guide posted on this site. However, my computer continued to behave extremely sluggishly, yet scans with Avira, AVG 8.5, MalwareBytes (fully updated), and Ad-Aware led to no results. I thought that it might have been a hardware problem, so, seeing as my computer was incredibly dusty and nearing on three years old, I cleaned up the case and bought a new motherboard (ASRock G41M-LE), processor (Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo E5200 @ 2.5GHz), and RAM (4GB G.SKILL DDR2 800 PC2 6400). However, following the installation of my new hardware and the necessary drivers, my computer was even slower, with programs spontaneously freezing, restarting, and crashing. Most programs will simply run very sluggishly, then become completely white and cause my computer to freeze for around two minutes before resuming normal functions. However, this is usually followed up by a spontaneous crash and ensuing error report. RAM usage is usually at around 750MB, even if I'm not running any programs, and CPU usage is constantly at around 50%, frequently capping at 100% if I start running most programs (anti-virus utilities, intenet browsers, etc.). I disabled indexing, ctfmon.exe, mdm.exe, and a handful of startup programs to no avail. I scanned with all of the aforementioned tools and found an additional two trojans with Avira and promptly deleted them. I also tried some defragging with SmartDefrag and Auslogics, yet my computer's problems persisted. A check of my computer's hardware did nothing, and Device Manager isn't reporting any problems. While no viruses are being reported, I believe that I have some viruses, as these problems only emerged following the detection of PerfectDefender 2009. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello and :thumbup2: to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here
.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay
.

-----------------------------------------------------------

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Kind regards
Net_Surfer
