I am getting this error message when i do my backup with Windows Backup

Posted Image

The backup is failing to complete. This is on my laptop, my desktop has no problems.

I dont know why it would say i have insuffiecient storage, i have a 500GB USB Hdd i use for all my backups.

Right now there is the Desktop backup in the Hdd, the size is 65GB. Computer says i have 400GB of room left.

So, my laptop backup is roughly the same size as my desktop, give or take a few GB.

Anyone can help me would be great.

I am using the RC Build 7100.

I'm not sure that this is the case for you, but it could be due to (write) permission issues.
You might check the user that is assigned to VSS, and check the permissions.

Shadow Copy (also called Volume Snapshot Service or VSS)
Shared Protection Point (SPP)

Have you checked the event logs?

Have you tried to run your backup as administrator?

EDIT
Another question: Are you running G-Data Internet Security?

No i am running Avria and the New Microsoft Security Essentials (aka "morro")

I am running as the Adminstrator, i do not have any other user accounts.

How do i check the event logs? is this for my security program or within the OS?

The backups have been going fine, up until this week.

Oh, so it has worked before, and now it doesn't? Strange indeed.

If Windows 7 has the same way to check the event logs as Vista, then:
Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.

The event logs might give a clue what's wrong.
Right click on the events concerning VSS and SPP, they should reveal some details.

Ok i decided to do a reintall of the OS, to see if that would help correct the problem. After two days of reintalling my apps, my laptop is back to normal.

I ran the backup again, I still have the same problem. whatever is wrong is still there, or something that i did/or am doing.

In the event viewer, i was able to copy this infomation about VSS

I have no idea really what all this means or what i need to do.
