Gateway laptop M-6750, Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5450/3072 MB/ 250 GB SATA hard drive/ Intel Graphics X3100/ Webcam, 8X Multi Format Dual DVDRW Labelflash/ 5 in 1 reader/ Vista Home Premium.

Solved the earlier problem - Vista would not recognize CD drive. Just jiggled drive and screwed it back down; works fine now.

Current problem - the burner no longer burns music w iTunes. It burns OK with Windows software but not iTunes. I followed the directions to uninstall iTunes including all the folders plus emptying Recycle Bin. When I try to burn, I get a message that something from iTunes did not load and I need to reinstall. Reinstalled twice and continue to get same msg.

Then saw a note that said try an older version of iTunes because some of the newer versions work OK with Macs but still have PC bugs. Installed itunes 4.2 version = very old. Still no burn.

That's where I am now. It burns fine with Windows but iTunes will not burn. Plus I lost all my iTunes playlists. Any idea how to get iTunes to burn? System Restore no good. For some reason it must have been turned off so I cannot take the computer back to when the burner was last recognized and burning w iTunes.

Help.

Problem resolved - almost. Well now the iTunes 4.2 is working and the burner is working. Not sure what changed but it works.

Now the only thing remaining is loss of the playlist. I think this went away when I deleted iTunes. I tried an undelete program but was not able to find it. I believe all the playlists were a part of iTunes and by uninstalling iTunes I lost it. Not a big thing but I would not mind having the playlists back.

Any idea?
