came in office and computer is off (a possible windows update) anywho the xp slash screen shows normally but after that the screen goes blank....i tried another video card but will still go black
anything else to try??

Is the cursor blinking in the upper left corner of this black screen?

i checked and nothing is on screen,also noted that the power lite on monitor will remain green...
when i turn light off in room monitor is not completely black.....

Have you gone through any diagnostic procedures supplied by Dell?
