Western Digital External hard drive disconnect and reconnects

Hi i have a fairly new 320gig westernal digital external hdd. Recently once its plugged in the drive automatically ejects or disconnects then reconnects i have a theory behind it because the hdd was connected to a pc with d conflicker virus i wiped it and scanned it with McAfee and got no detections, so i am left to wonder is this the virus or has my external really gone bad? Please do help

What errors regarding drives...are reflected in Event Viewer? Just errors, no information items.
