Hello,

I am using Quickbooks Premier 2007 on my desktop and often wish it was on my laptop. I am running Vista on the desktop and XP on the laptop.

I just purchased an iomega 1TB desktop hard drive. Can I install Quickbooks on the external hard drive and then use it on any computer that the drive is connected to?

Thanks in advance for any help

The answer must be...no.

Where are the registry entries?

On the same partition as Windows.

If Windows isn't on that external drive, you have a disconnect between the registry values and the files.

There is only one system that will have the correct registry entries...that's the system that the program will run properly on.

AFAIK, Windows does not install on external hard drives.

If mobility is the issue...I would just suggest a laptop with the program installed. You could always network with any other system from a laptop, if file access is what the goal is.
