Unable to install MATLAB because Set-Up window freezes on start as does system Java Control Panel on Windows XP machine; not able to select tabs or radio buttons. Noticed drag and drop on Desktop does not work after network card replacement and deinstall of Mozilla Firefox. Sun Java test of machine shows Java is working with latest version, but suspect registry problem. MATLAB technical support is unable to help. Would a registry check and clean be worthwhile and which program?

Well...IMO, the evidence suggests that something is wrong with the program you are trying to install.

If you are using a CD, I suggest you clean it.

If it's a downloaded program, I suggest that you try to download a different copy...since the one you are using may be damaged.

Played around with it a bit more and noticed that the set up window responds to tab key and space bar entry of commands. Got it re-installed and licensed, but menu drop downs are not working with the optical mouse I have even though they did before. Will try swapping out mouse to see if that fixes it. Same story with Java control panel with arrow keys to move among tabs, but not responding to mouse.
