Hello,

I noticed other people having the clickover.cn problem, so I joined and posted hoping for help. Every search is hijacked and taken to ad sites and sites SOUNDING familiar to what I searched for. Clickover.cn usually flashes at beginning of the URL when hijacked. Also something like Volya or volgya has been displayed briefly in url a couple times before it changes to phony sites.

I ran a rootrepeal. Here is my file scan results page:

Rerun Rootrepeal. After the scan completes, go to the files tab and find this file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\vsfocepxrlxexy.sys

Then use your mouse to highlight it in the Rootrepeal window.
Next right mouse click on it and select *wipe file* option only.
Then immediately reboot the computer.

Then run a quick-scan with Malwarebytes following the instructions below. Keep rebooting and running quick-scans with Malwarebytes until it shows zero infections. If after 3 scans it is still not clean post the final log.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:
  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.

Hello Again!

You are a genius! I followed your instructions. I tried google searches--topics far apart like AVG, Stephen King, buy books, etc. They all worked!

THE PROCESS: (it's getting a little fuzzy, but this is how I remember it so far)

Now, when I wiped the file with RootRepeal and rebooted the computer did a CHDISK scan. Turned out ok.

Then AVG started telling me 8x files all named C:\windows\system32\vsfoceihovhkwn.dll and classified as "Infection: Virus Identification Win32/Cryptor" needed to be removed. Soon it was 12 files. Then like 15 I think. Each file had a separate number attached to it. "Run" something number? I forget

I selected them and said remove, but AVG could not remove them all. It looked like it got ONE only.

I procured Malwarebytes, as you said. Ran it. It found a BUNCH of little bastards running around in our PC. It removed all but one--which needed reboot. I rebooted. All removed apparently. I got no confirmation.

Here is the Malwarebytes log:

It's always difficult to say how exactly these infections get on computers.

If you’re clean, you should create a new Restore Point to prevent possible re-infection from an old one.

Go Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click System Restore. Choose the radio button marked Create a Restore Point on the first screen then click Next. Give the Restore Point a name and then click Create. Then use Disk Cleanup to remove all but the most recently created Restore Point. Go Start > Run and type: "Cleanmgr" (without the quotes). Click Ok > More Options tab > Clean Up in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

Also, go Start > Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs. Post back and report any Java or JS2E entries that you have.

Run a full scan with AVG in Safe Mode and post back the results.
