A while ago I had gotten the spyware protect 2009 virus. I got rid of the virus completely but some parts of my computer had changed. One of these parts was my volume control. On the outside of my Dell there are several controls including volume and play and stop and next/previous buttons for music. Before I was able to press the volume buttons and it would show what volume level I was at or whether or not the volume was muted automatically on the middle of my screen. Now I'm unable to see what level of volume I'm at unless I open the volume control from the task bar. Is there a way to fix this?

Read your users manual and see if there is a certain F key combination to activate the buttons
You might have to replace/update the keyboard/keypad driver
