Howdy,

I had a problem with my computer hanging up which was resolved by using system restore.

Here is the link if you care to see it. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/245059/computer-hangs-up/

After using system restore, ( I went back to July 15th, 09) I checked Microsoft's update site to download critical updates. There were 7 updates with one being Microsoft SilverLight update KB970363.

All but the SilverLight update installed fine. I got a screen telling me that the update failed to install.
I then went to Add/Remove and tried to uninstall SilverLight thinking I would reinstall it and give the update another shot.

I am unable to uninstall SilverLight.

This is the screen I get. I don't understand the message ????

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried the uninstall suggested in the Silverlight tutorial which is to use the Add/Remove method.

I keep getting the screen that I posted above.

I will look into the clean up utility. My concern is that I will be tampering with my registry. I have see many warnings on Bleeping Computer saying that fooling with the registry is not a good idea.

Do you thing the utility is pretty safe for a novice user like myself to use ?

Thanks again.

Update. I used the Microsoft Cleanup Utility. I was able to get Silverlight out of the Add/Remove list.

I then downloaded the latest version of Silverlight and so far so good.
