I think i may have a root kit and/or a trojan i have just ran a full clean out at MG's, i have Ccleaner SAS and Mbam all there all updated and everything seems to be running fine although, when i run ccleaner i notice that there is a stack of WD scan results, and also WD dosen't run automatically to get the updates and hasn't done so for a long time now and i have to keep re-setting my wuauserv all the time to get that running so as to get the updates, as i said i have just last week done a clean out, and now this, so i am now thinking was it there all the time and the other things i've ran just don't seem to have picked this up. All the above items where ran under the supervision of others and there was even a Combofix ran and i ran rootrepeal.rar but to no avail.
I recently added the addon in FF called Better Privacy when i open this through its options tab it has a notification stating C:\user\appdata\macromedia\flashplayer,then whaen looking at the better privacy it says File Name sys settsings.sol and says this is an LSO , no matter how much i clear it it just comes back, also sometimes things appear on my taskbar and then things disappear.
The other night late on the evening i was trying to access BC and i couldn't even if i put the IP address into the address bar, then all of a sudden my comp crashed so i rebooted and it opened with a window asking me to register my Vista product key, so i done that and my comp opened with a message in the bottom right corner saying i had an invalid copy, i have only had the comp for about 18mth, confused you soon will be, so i restarted and low and behold it was back to normal, so i am totally confused all together, i've even been in touch with my ISP and asked them to change my IP but they say that my IP is dynamic and is leased, and i have to wait nearly a month before i can have it changed. I've even tried ipconfig /release then renew but no can do stuck with IP.
Also the other night when i checked my programs you will see the attatched jpeg and see if you can spot the changes, after the reboot it is back to normal.
So after Boopme said there looked something realy suspicious and told me what to do i have ran DDS and have attatched the logs for you to look at and hope you can help as i'm at my witts end now and pulling teeth trying to solve this one, i honestly don't know and can't seem to trace anything to put a name to it so that is exactly why i have told you everything but not given a name to anything !
Something else i have just noticed is, when i send a file to zipped it is no longer showing as a zipped file it still looks open, looks like a file within a file if you know what i mean !
All help will be really appreciated because this is now becoming a guessing game for me !

Sorry about this i'm not bumping, i've just tried to update Ccleaner and as i went to the site and then tried to download update from FileHippo my AV popped up with a block to a P2P Generic Worm so i'm nw wondering if it was Ccleaner that has been cuasing the probs, so i've deleted and await your outcome !
Thankyou DM !

Hello.

Please run a rootkit scan. Then re-run DDS and post back with both the DDS.txt and Attach.txt logs.

Download and Run Scan with GMER

We will use GMER to scan for rootkits. This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop. Unzip/extract the file to its own folder. (Click here for information on how to do this if not sure. Win 2000 users click here.
  • Close any and all open programs, as this process may crash your computer.
  • Double click Posted Image or Posted Image on your desktop.
  • When you have done this, close all running programs.
There is a small chance this application may crash your computer so save any work you have open.
  • Double-click on Gmer.exe to start the program. Right-click and select Run As Administrator... if you are using Vista
  • Allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
If it detects rootkit activity, you will receive a prompt (refer below) to run a full scan. Click NO..
    Posted Image
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Please UNCHECK the following:
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Registry
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show all (Don't miss this one!)
  • Click on Posted Image and wait for the scan to finish.
  • If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • Push Posted Image and save the logfile to your desktop.
  • Copy and Paste the contents of that file in your next post.

If GMER doesn't work in Normal Mode try running it in Safe Mode

Note: Do Not run any program while GMER is running
*Note*: Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any actions on "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Also, please give me an update of the current condition of your machine please.

Thanks.

With Regards,
Extremeboy

Hi there extremeboy here is my GMER log, computer seems to be running fairly well but i have slight hiccups now and again, i:e like kis2009 not performing properly windows update not working or if it does it only works intermitently, defender definitions i have always had to update manually, little blue circle sometimes seems to showing for a long time after boot as if there is something running in the background, and it seems like i'm having browser hijacking every other week, also if i place an sd/mmc card in the designated slot i have since just after getting the PC it has never showed the choice to open with window.
Have also on many occasions in just a matter of months had to reboot several times do to invalid operations or computer crashing !
Thanks for the help in advance !

Hello.

Those MBR Disk Sector sections appear to False-positive. Nothing showing too much in the GMER log. Let's run a RootRepeal scan as well.

Download and run RootRepeal CR

Please download RootRepeal from the following location and save it to your desktop.
  • Unzip the RootRepeal.zip file it to it's own folder. (If you did not use the "Direct Download" mirror to download RootRepeal).
  • Close/Disable all other programs especially your security programs (anti-spyware, anti-virus, and firewall) Refer to this page, if you are unsure how.
  • Physically disconnect your machine from the internet as your system will be unprotected.
  • Double-click on RootRepeal.exe to run it. If you are using Vista, please right-click and run as Administrator...
  • Click the Posted Image tab at the bottom.
  • Now press the Posted Image button.
  • A box will pop up, check the boxes beside All Seven options/scan area
    Posted Image
  • Now click OK.
  • Another box will open, check the boxes beside all the drives, eg : C:\, then click OK.
  • The scan will take a little while to run, so let it go unhindered.
  • Once it is done, click the Save Report button. Posted Image
  • Save it as RepealScan and save it to your desktop
  • Reconnect to the internet.
  • Post the contents of that log in your reply please.
Run a scan with Malwarebytes.

Then, please take a new DDS run and post back with both the DDS and Attach logs.

Download and run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

For complete or visual instructions on installing and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware please read this link

Extremeboy

Hello.

Leave those tools on your desktop. We will clean those up at the end. :thumbup2:

I think regarding that Kaspersky connection, it should be okay. I think it's just letting you know of the current connections established or is connected at the moment. Probably it's okay. Don't think that would cause any problems or make it not function properly.

Run a ESET scan:

Run ESET Online Scan
  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on Posted Image to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Push the Start button.
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push Posted Image
  • Push Posted Image, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Push Posted Image
You can refer to this animation by neomage if needed.

Take a new DDS run afterward and post back with both the DDS and Attach logs in your next reply. Also, let me know how your computer is running and if you have any more problems, issues or symptoms left.

Thanks.

Extremeboy

The logs looks clean and fine to me, so let me know if you have any other problems or issues.

It seems we don't have any infections left on your system at the moment. :thumbup2:

Let me know how the sd/mmc slots work as you mentioned in your previous reply.
