Here is a picture of a port on my Mobo that i have no idea what it could be used for. It is black, small and rectangular, it sits below the Graphics Card, and above a USB-PCI expansion card i put in myself. It sits in a place where i thought a PCI slot would go.

What sort of devices would i be able to use there? I just put a USB-PCI expansion card in, would newer USB expanion cards use this format? If i get a new one in the future, should i look for the PCI-E?

just for the record, this is a Dell Insprion 530s

PCI-E X1 USB cards,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....to%20USB%20Card

There are many devices that can be used in that port,
Sond, USB,video,LAN, etc.

I should have bought the full size Dell Insprion 530.

Where would be a good place (or website) where i can find slim PCI /PCI-E cards?

I think that is the only setback on my system, the slim form factor makes expanding it very diffcult.

Yep.
Those small cases are OK if you just plan on using one as is until it dies or do a lot of searching for add-in cards !

Decide what kind of card you want & google it.
Use PCI-E X1 low profile in the search

Example, PCI-E X1 low profile LAN card ,

I'm not going to do all your searching for you, just tell you how to find what you want.
