Hello aod and welcome to BleepingComputer.


Did you have the Windows Solitaire game open when you created that log? If not:

I would like you to have a file scanned for me. Go to the Jotti's malware scan site and submit the following files for a malware scan:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\sol.exe

Post the results of the scans in your next reply.


I don't see any specific malware in your HJT log. You do have two file-sharing programs running, and these can significantly slow a system down. Let's try some general cleaning:


Download CleanUp! and install it.
- Start CleanUp! and click on the CleanUp! button.
- Let it run to completion. It may take a few minutes depending on the size of your hard drive so be patient.
- Exit Cleanup


Please do an online virus scan at two or more of the following sites:
Panda ActiveScan
TrendMicro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
CA eTrust AV WebScanner
Symantec Security Check

Allow the online scan to remove anything they find. Report anything that they can not remove.


If you haven't already done so, download Ad-aware SE v1.06 from LavaSoft. Install and update it. Run a "Full scan", but uncheck "Search for negligible risk entries". (A comptete tutorial on Ad-aware can be found here.) Allow Ad-aware to remove anything it finds.


Download and install the trial version of Ewido Security Suite.
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
- Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
- When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!".
- The program will prompt you to update; click the OK button.
- The program will now go to the main screen.
- On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
- Click on Start.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed,

Run Ewido:
- Click on scanner.
- Click on Complete System Scan.
- Let the program scan the machine.
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report.
- Click Save report.
- Save the report to your desktop.

Reboot normally and post back the contents of that ewido.txt log file.
