My brand new laptop Dell makes a loud pop sound every 5 minutes or so. I think it's coming from the speakers. When I turn off sound, the pop goes away. Help! (I have vista)

One thought that comes to me is that you could be hearing your pop up blocker as it blocks a pop-up.
When the popping sound occurs, look to see if you are being alerted to fact that a pop up has been blocked.
You will usually see the alerts at the bottom of the webpage or in the top toolbar.

If this is the cause of the popping sound, you should be able to configure the blocker to use no sound.

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits
