Whenever I record some with my Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser mic I get this really high pitch shrill noise. I often use this mic to record songs so this is a problem for me. Part of the problem is I am half deaf and it's such a high pitch noise I can't hear it. where as my friend can, he can edit it out by cutting out high frequencies. But I was wondering if anyone would know what causes this? I've tried looking around but I couldn't find anything.

Is it possible the mic is shot?
