For a few days now I've been having a problem with my computer.
Sometimes when I close out of Firefox (latest version) and then retry to open it, the hourglass icon appears and makes it look like it's loading, but no window pops up. (I'm running XP SP3.)
I try going to the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl Alt Delete, but that doesn't work, nor does right clicking on the taskbar and hitting Task Manager work as well.
As well as being unable to access the Task Manager, I'm also unable to do a restart via the Start Menu, and I have to do a hard reboot.
I'm unsure if this is a virus or a worm or anything like that. I've read that some viruses and worms can disable you from accessing the Task Manager.
I've have both Ad-Aware and Spybot: S&D, and have run them both, but neither have picked anything up.
I also have AVG, but that hasn't picked anything up either. (All 3 programs have the latest updates.)
I've also run HijackThis, but that hasn't picked up anything suspicious, at least to my knowledge.
If anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this problem and a possible solution, I'd appreciate the help.
