What is the best sort I can buy and pretty idiot proof  I only want to spend about $1000 at most and if i can get away with something cheaper i would be stoked. He also needs something to support his warcraft games.

Well you'll probably want to make him as a general user account, rather than an administrator. What do you mean by yr 7 adn? Gaming laptops often cost more than 1000 dollars. I'd recommend [http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366651&type=product&id=1218092150636] which is $1049.99 not including tax.

OP is the type of parent...everyone wishes they had at 7 years of age . I probably misinterpreted that...maybe the OP means 7th grade, that should move him up to about 11 or 12.

Even twice that .

Even now :).

Edit: You might want to take a look at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....eTabStoreType=3

Seems to me you are willing to spend way too much on a youngster, but it's your money :).

I believe it means "He's going into year seven, and he needs one for homework", as in seventh grade.

I wouldn't spend more than 650$ on a computer for him, he doesn't need extremely high graphics for warcraft(and warcraft 3 can run on anything these days.)

Just ask and make sure it has a dedicated graphics card, and you'll probably be getting your money's worth, if its under 800$.
