Here is an issue that is rather frustrating. I have an 8gb file (Adobe master collection) which I have made from the adobe trial disks I have bought. Well I have 22gb free ob my hd which is the only one my laptop has. I wanted to copy the ISO to my 250gb external hdd but it tells me 'Not enough Disk space' even aol is saying the same thing when I try making log files for chatrooms. What is going on and how do I fix it?

I'm thinking it doesn't have a large enough contiguous space on the hard drive. Defrag and try again. Are you just coping the files or creating the isos and copying? In some cases more space, temporarily is required and so it might not let you.

No the iso is already made, I am copying it from my laptop to the external hdd. I just did a full format so I lost the iso. But I am having the space error with AOL 9.1's log manager. It tells me that there is no more disk space (not even to hold 50kb?)

I found this in my event viewer

Maybe that is the issue? Will a chkdsk fix it?

Running chkdsk /r or the equivalent will correct the amount of free space on a partition.

Which is not to say that it will correct your situation, but I would run it.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r (with space between the k and /) and hit Enter. Type Y and hit Enter in response to onscreen query. Reboot the system and let the command run to completion, the system will boot into XP when chkdsk is complete.

I did that chkdsk /f /r command. Aol is still having that issue with the disk space and the chkdsk cleared the 1238index thing but thats just about it. Another thing is I dont know how to flash my cd drive, harddisk0 would be the hard drive right? I remember installing a game client from a cd at the time of the log and maybe thats the harddisk1?

here is the flashing tool link

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=1127346

it keeps asking to find a file and i dont know what it is talking about...but when i do find the file it open up to and then i hit the FWLashup it says 'This flashing tool cannot be used with this device'

im sure i know whats wrong, if your external HDD's file system is FAT32 then the max size on one file that can be written over is like 4GB try and spilt the file using HJ Split.

Does not work...the last time I used that...it always makes my system go to craps and a format is needed.

DVD/CDRW Drive (GCC-4243N) is not a TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-L532R

Those laptop slim drives don't last long anyway, many don't work well when new.
