hello all.

I have had help from you guys before but it was never me asking the question so i thought this would be the place to pose my problem and hopefully get a solution.

I just wiped and reloaded my computer myself i had a few problems so i went back to basics so to speak.

Everything went fine without a hitch.

When I got back to my desktop i activated windows through thier number and eveything went well there.

Then i thought hey i'll check my email....... No internet. Right now i am using my dad's slow ass computer to type this.

I checked my network connections and it just says 1394 something or other instead of what it should (Local Area Connection i think)

How do i get my internet back up my newly formatted computer i must of missed something.

I'm running XP professional without anything on it no service packs or nothing.

And i repeat i have no internet access on that computer.

I called my ISP the confirmed i need to install my internet adapter but i had my computer built by another gentlemen. I have no disc or anything.

Please help.

P.S. i wont be able to check this until tomorrow probably.

Thank you in advance.

What is the model / make of your motherboard?
You can always visit the motherboard manufacturer's website and download drivers.

Ok i don't know if this is what you wanted.

I have the following i think

AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor
3500+
2.21Ghz
1.0 GB of ram

i think that is what you wanted if not how do i get that info you need.

P.S. i checked the AMD website and couldn't find any drivers like i needed

That is actually close, and you should pat yourself on the back for trying! Your computer should tell you the motherboard make and model on the first screen (the BIOS post screen) that is displayed when your computer starts up. If, when you start up your computer, you see a picture or something that says "ASUS, or American Megatrends, or Biostar, etc" then that is the screen you want...push the TAB key as soon as this screen comes up and you will get more detailed information... why manufacturers think a picture is more useful than a BIOS post is well well beyond my capability for reasoning....

Try your luck with Everest Home edition, it can tell you about what kind of hardware you have.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_everest_home/

Also, try SIW : http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

Look for Networking Hardware and Motherboard. Look for model and manufacturer. If you can find them, Google will lead you to the light

If nothing else works, open your computer case, have a look at motherboard and look for some model code, look them up in Google. Hit and trial. (Not recommended if you have never opened computer case before)

For example, have a look at this motherboard : http://www.ixbt.com/mainboard/gigabyte/g1975x/board.jpg
The model is written : Gigabyte GA-G1975X. Just an example, what to look for.

Well, now you know.
Goto foxconn's web site and enter your motherboard model number. Download drivers. Install them and enjoy

Their driver download site :
http://www.foxconnsupport.com/download.aspx

This motherboard has nForce4 Ultra chipset. So you can download drivers from NVidia's site as well:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.23.html

Just down loaded Everest, any ideas why it locks up. Have a problem with it locking everything, also my connection light stays on as soon as I activate Everest and stays on. I have to hit the reset to reboot, I have tried it twice N/G.

Everest Home free is for old computers

This product has been discontinued by it's makers, Lavalys, so no more features will be added from version 2.20. However they will continue to support the product until March 2006.

From the above posts it sounded like it worked for them, just not happy working for me! I removed it and will try a new down load to see if that is it.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System...e-Edition.shtml

They are trying to get people to buy the new version, it's very powerful, I really can't even come up with a suitable substitute, especially freeware.

I love the memory latency benchmark, but that's because i have very fast memory

For basic system info...you could also try SIW, http://www.gtopala.com/ , freeware version.
