Hi all, just a heads up about the following Startup Database entry:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/g...v.exe-1812.html

In fact, at our end we've changed the description to:

Added by an unidentified WORM or TROJAN. - Note - there IS in fact also a Microsoft Antispyware process bearing the same name, but it will not figure among the startup items!

The legitimate Giant/MSAS startup is this one:

gcasServ = gcasServ.exe

The legitimate gcasDtServ.exe will, contrary to this impostor, of course always be located in the Microsoft AntiSpyware folder in Program Files

Thought you might want to know! ;)

Best regards,

... and, I forgot, there's a small error here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/w....dll-11186.html

Your description says:

This startup entry is started automatically from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, or RunServicesOnce entry in the registry.

but that isn't the case:

The following registry entries are created to run code exported by winstart.dll on startup:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\winstart\
DllName =
winstart.dll

Cheers,
