I have an Asus P5e3 mobo and would like to set this up to use my external eSATA hard drive. When I plug the drive into the port on the back of the mobo nothing shows up in Windows 7 64bit RC. This computer is a dual boot with Windows XP 32bit on a separate internal hard drive. (all my internal drives are SATA) When I boot into XP with the eSATA external drive plugged in I don't even get past the splash screen. Plugging it in while XP is running causes the whole system to freeze up.
I believe this has something to do with enabling or configuring the AHCI in the BIOS but I am a bit fuzzy on the details.
Would appreciate any help.
The external hard drive works fine when I use the USB or Firewire cables.
