Thanx a lot for that link

It helped me a lot.
I downloaded AdAware and Spybot S&D.

I also downloaded Hijackthis and it warned me to ask spyware experts what I should and shouldn't delete.

So now a have all these files that Hijackthis detected and I don't know what I should delete. I hope you ( or somebody else) can help me with this.

So this is what showed up on the logfile :flowers: :

Hello shakie_anoni and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

You have a LOP infection from Messenger Plus! 3. This is an infection that is installed when Messenger Plus! 3 is installed.

Remove these installed programs using Add\Remove Programs in the Control Panel:
  • Click Start.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Double-click Add\Remove Programs.
  • Look in the Currently installed programs box for each program listed below and if it is there:
  • Click on it to select it.
  • Click Change (or Change/Remove) button.
  • If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.
Messenger Plus! 3
Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.tfmcquocloippvi.com/5qG9/HO_zzd...MoLpTlVgdR3.cgi
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ACB3E0B7-7D0C-40B7-99B3-3EEACDF86BFB} - C:\WINDOWS\MSLAGENT\4B_1,0,1,1_MSLAGENT.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Kernel32] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Kernel.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [REGRUN] C:\FAW32.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Trust Flaw Sect Data] C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\creativesettingstrustflaw\Second debug.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Deafweb] C:\WINDOWS\APPLIC~1\LONGOO~1\bin drv frag.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MMZQ] C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\MMZQ\MMZQM.EXE
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O18 - Filter: text/html - {47A0A780-ADE4-11D9-8D2E-00E0ED065C1D} - C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\V0.26.DAT

color=blue]it appears that Avast was once installed on this machine but is no longer operating. If it was removed then check the following item also:[/color]O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ashMaiSv] C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\AVAST4\ashmaisv.exe
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\MSLAGENT\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Kernel.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\creativesettingstrustflaw\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\LONGOO~1\ <--folder (a folder whose name begins with LONGOO)
C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\V0.26.DAT
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\MMZQ\ <--folder
C:\PROGRAM FILES\ALWIL SOFTWARE\ <--folder (if removed above)
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\ <--folder
C:\FAW32.EXE

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Trend Micro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner
Make sure that you choose "fix", "clean" or "autoclean". If you have any files that cannot be disinfected or quarantined automatically then delete them manually.

Step #7

AdAware SE v1.06

Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE v1.06:
  • Download and Install AdAware SE Personal, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
      • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
      • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
    • Under Definitions:
      • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
  • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
      • Scan Within Archives
    • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
      • choose all hard drives
    • Under Memory & Registry: all green
      • Scan Active Processes
      • Scan Registry
      • Deep Scan Registry
      • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
      • Scan my Hosts file
  • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Shell Integration:
      • Move deleted files to recycle bin
    • Under Logfile Detail Level: all green
      • include addtional object information
      • DESELECT - include negligible objects information
      • include environment information
    • Under Alternate Data Streams:
      • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
      • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
  • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
    • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
      • Unload recognized processes during scanning
      • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
    • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
      • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
    • Under Log Files:
      • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
  • Click ‘Start’
  • Choose 'Perform Full System Scan'
  • DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.
  • If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window
  • Right-click on the list and choose Select All
  • Click the Next button to finish removing the items that were found
  • When finished, REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found
Step #8

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hi

Wow look at what you posted. :flowers: Thanks for helping :D

This is what I did:
Step 1: uninstalled...no more messenger plus 3.
Step 2: Didn't work =/
Step 3: I fixed what I could find when I did a new scan
Step 4: Some files were gone already
Step 5: Download, but CCleaner didn't find anything
Step 6: None of those didn't download =/
I do have About Buster ,TDS-3 ,Trojan Hunter and A2 Free ( a-squared).
I don't know if that's enough.
Step 7: I had allready had Adware, but thanks for all those (mini)steps for that program.
Step 8: I did that too :trumpet:

Well this is my new logfile, I hope it looks better

Hi shakie_anoni. What happens when you try and boot to Safe Mode? The LOP infection is still present and you will probably need to remove it from Safe Mode. Otherwise it will need to be removed from a DOS boot (Command Prompt boot). Also, AdAware SE v1.06 should have taken care of LOP but it appears that it did not. Do you have the latest definitions files?

Let me know and we will go at this from a different direction.

Cheers.

Nothing happend when I tried to boot to Safe Mode...I don't know why Safe Mode isn't working anymore. I have Ad-Aware SE Personal..I don't know if it's the same as v1.06 =/. That's probably why it didn't remove LOP.

Here is a fresh log btw. :

Hi shakie_anoni. That log looks clean. Good job! How are things running? Any problems?

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the View menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • In the Hidden files section unselect Show all files.
  • Click OK.
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
You should also have a good firewall and a good antivirus application like the ones you are currently using. It is critical to have both a firewall and antivirus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit monthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scanners
weekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Have a safe and happy computing day!

Thank you! Thank you!

Everything is running better...but I don't still don't think my computer is a 100 % ..=/...My computers still freezes a lot. I think it's because I have a lot of stuff running =/.

Anyway I haev a little problem now. My scanner (that doesn't delete any files) showed me that I still have a few files that are dangerous. Now I wanted to know how to find files on HKEY. I really have to deleted some on HKLM, HKCU and HKCR, but how do I search for them to delete them?
I tried to find the Software threw Add/Remove programs via the Control Panel, but I couldn't find it. =/
I have to delete the files with kazaa, ed2k, gnutella and magnet in the filename.

And I also tried Start > Run > and searched for 'cmd' ..what I couldn't even find :S.

Hi shakie_anoni. There's alot more files involved with those applications than just the ones with those names. Uninstalling applications and trying to remove the registry settings is virtually impossible unless you know all of the different places that each program made entries and changes. I will leave that to one of the other forums and suggest that you post your question in the Win98 forum since that is not a malware issue.

Here is a pretty good link on how to edit the registry for your reference:

http://www.informationweek.com/story/showA...icleID=13100639

Someone once told me that when you edit the registry treat it as if you were diffusing a bomb. That's a pretty good analogy.

Now that your malware issues have been resolved I will close this topic. If you need it reopened for this same issue then please PM me. If you have any new issues in the future then please start a new topic.

Cheers.

Keep on computing!
