main symptom is that any search in any browser (ie, ff, chrome) will redirect when you click on the search link from google. It also fails to load the page for most downloads. This has stopped both nod-32 and super anti spyware from receiving updates directly. i have updated both manually by downloading the updates on a different computer and transferring the files.

nod-32 found and removed ravmon and kryptik.ff

I manually removed a problem where when you clicked on the c: drive it would try to open an autorun file. related to this I also removed some "aquaplay" registry entries and a folder named "resycled" from the root level of the c: drive. i also cleaned out a bad host file.

I now get a clean bill of health from both Nod-32 and superantispyware. i have been unable to find a solution to the search results re-direct or the blocked download sites.

The search results are the real results on google, you do not get re-directed until you click on the link on google's site. the redirect seems to consistently send you to missngpage.com. it some time will further redirect you on to something else depending upon the search term entered. There seems to be about 4-5 primary sites it ends up sending you to as the end result.

thanks for looking at this.

Hello a1phageek,

We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The reason we ask this or do not respond to your requests is because that would remove you from the active queue that Techs and Staff have access to. The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding.

Regards,

The weatherman

Hello a1phageek and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE
regards,
schrauber

Hi a1phageek,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer. My name is m0le and I will be helping you with your log.
  • Please subscribe to this topic, if you haven't already.

  • Please avoid installing/uninstalling or updating any programs and attempting any unsupervised fixes or scans. This can make helping you impossible.

  • Please reply to this post so I know you are there.
The forum is busy and we need to have replies as soon as possible. If I haven't had a reply after 3 days I will bump the topic and if you do not reply by the following day after that then I will close the topic.

I will be back soon with the first instructions.

Thanks :thumbup2:

Hi a1phageek,

Nothing is sticking out in the log so we need to go looking

We Need to check for Rootkits with RootRepeal
  • Download RootRepeal from the following location and save it to your desktop:
  • Extract RootRepeal.exe from the zip archive.
  • Open Posted Image on your desktop.
  • Click the Posted Image tab.
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Check all six boxes: Posted Image
  • Push Ok
  • Check the box for your main system drive (Usually C:), and press Ok.
  • Allow RootRepeal to run a scan of your system. This may take some time.
  • Once the scan completes, push the Posted Image button. Save the log to your desktop, using a distinctive name, such as RootRepeal.txt. Include this report in your next reply, please.
Then

Please download OTS and save it to your desktop

- Double click Posted Image and run
If you are running on Vista then right-click the program and choose Run as Administrator.

- Please check Posted Image & Posted Image

- Next press
Posted Image

- When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
- Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
- Use the Add Reply button in the forum and Attach the scan back here (do not copy/paste it as it will be too big to fit)
- The log will be located in the OTS folder and named OTS.txt.

Thanks :thumbup2:

Hi,

I have not had a reply from you for 3 days. Can you please tell me if you still need help with your computer as I am unable to help other members with their problems while I have your topic still open.

If you like you can PM me.

Thanks,

m0le
