Have you tried to do a search for it?

You can look for it many ways, but I would recommend some wildcards, just in case it was renamed. Try this in the search box (START->search): Notepad.*, Note*.*, N*.*, ?pad.*, or word*.*

Notice that there are NO spaces between the letters and wildcards (* and ?).

If this is a problem that just happened, like withen the last few days, you may want to consider using the most recent system restore and see if it fixes it that way.

Try this: How to extract files in Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP.

You will need the original Windows CD or have the installation files on the HDD.

If you have Windows XP or 2000 look for notepad.exe in Windows folder. Copy & Paste the file in the System32 folder.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?
