Hi everyone.. please help me =(

I ran spybot a few days ago and it detected Virtumonde. Spybot was able to remove it but every time I reboot and ran Spybot again Virtumonde is still there.
I've tried Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and VundoFix at the same time too but both could not detect anything at all.

Seeing that everything's okay (did not really slow down my laptop or internet) I continued with my normal internet activity and the regular Spybot scans.
Virtumonde was always there and every time I would remove and just leave it.

So today I switched on my laptop everything was normal but I just couldn't connect to the internet.
I ran Spybot again and Virtumonde was not detected anymore
My wi-fi and bluetooth and everything is on and running normally but I just couldn't get the network box to come out.
I mean, the window where there's a list of wireless networks available.. wouldn't come out after I clicked "Connect To".
Sorry I hope I make sense, I don't really know how to describe this. Thanks for your time =)

Here's my DDS log:

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Hello, thank you for your reply!

Since the previous post I've done a system restore to the earlier point when my networks were not disabled so now I am able to connect to the internet again.
I did not run any spybot scans anymore after restore.

Here's my new DDS log:

Hello.

There does not appear to be an active infection. Let's see what we can find.

Update Java to Version 6 Update 15
Your current version of Java is outdated. Malware creators can exploit the lesser security of older versions. Please uninstall your current version through Add/Remove Programs. Remove all instances of Java, J2SE Runtime, Java Runtime, and Java Runtime Environment. Restart your computer after uninstalling.

Please download the installer here. Choose "Windows".

Delete the installer after use.

Run Scan with Kaspersky
Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner.

If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select Run as administrator to perform this scan.
  • Please disable your realtime protection software before proceeding. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
  • Open the Kaspersky Scanner page.
  • Click on Accept and install any components it needs.
  • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select Critical Areas.
  • This will start the program and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
You can refer to this animation by sundavis.

This scanner will only scan. It does not remove any malware it finds.

With Regards
The Panda

Hi The Panda, thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry if this were to be a false alarm, but it did show Virtumonde from Spybot so I thought my laptop was infected(I hope not).

I've updated my Java like you've suggested but when I tried to run the Kaspersky online scanner these error showed when it was starting to update the database:

Update has failed. Program has failed to start. Close the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window and open it again to install the program.
You must be online to update the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 database. With the latest database updates, you can find new viruses and other threats. Please go online to use Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0. [ERROR: Key is expired]

Starting Java applet has failed! Please go online to use this program.

I cleared my cookies and everything but I still can't run the scan.

Hello.

Let's try ESET then.

Run ESET Online Scan
  • Please disable your realtime protection software before proceeding. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
  • Please go to ESET OnlineScan (NOD32)
  • You will then see the Terms of Use, tick the check-box infront of YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • Now click Start. If you see a "Security Warning" that asks if you want to install and run a file called "OnlineScanner.cab", click Yes.
  • Click Start. The online scanner will now prepare itself for running on your pc.
  • To do a full-scan, tick: Remove found threats and Scan potentially unwanted applications.
  • Press Scan. The Onlinescan will now start and scan your computer. Please be patient as this a while.
  • When the scan has finished, it will show a screen with two tabs "overview" and "details" and the option to get information or buy software, just close the window.
  • Click Start, then Run.... The the box that appears type with the quotes:
    "C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt"
  • The scan results will now open in Notepad
  • Click into the text area, right-click and chose select all. Right-click again and chose Copy.
  • Post back with the log.txt in your next reply.
Note: For Vista Users: Eset is compatible but Internet Explorer must be run as Administrator. To do this, right-click on the IE icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu.)

With Regards,
The Panda

Seems like nothing was detected?
I ran a spybot scan again and it showed Virtumonde as usual. I'm so confused now.

Hello.

In the screen above click the + to expand the infection data. This should show what files are infected.

Take a screenshot of that.

Okay something happened.

I have just submitted the file to you.

I think it was because I removed the file with spybot so the file couldn't be found.
My laptop started acting weird after Virtumonde was removed by Spybot.
Internet lagged once every few seconds, I restarted the computer and the same problem from my first post reoccured.
I couldn't connect to the internet anymore.

I am now here after a system restore and this time xwizards.dll was found.

Hello.

The detection looks like a heuristic false positive. Look at these results.

It's even a Microsoft signed file, and is safe to ignore.

The Panda
