Monday around 12PM or so, I woke up and saw my computer had some spyware. There was a small popup saying my computer was infected and the background was changed to say I did. I ran Spybot and MalwareBytes and deleted everything I could, then rebooted my computer with Spybot running upon rebooting to delete anything that was left. Day after my background changed again while I was playing a game, so I ran Spybot and MB again, and the background hasn't changed since, probably cause I used HJT afterwards. Since then though, whenever I happen to play one particular game, I get a random Application error message for wmiprvse.exe, and yesterday got it for iTunes.exe when playing with music. So far, wmiprvse, exe only has this error when the game is running, and I've been playing it for over a year without these errors. While looking around through Search on My Computer, then got an Application Error on AlbumDB2 or something like that. So far, I've run Spybot, MalwareBytes, HiJackThis, and Symantec AntiVirus but have no found anything to stop this. Any help is appreciated.

There is no W and the end of wmiprvse(w).exe is there? That would indicate the sasser worm

Main problem is I cannot get into Safe Mode. My computer forces me to login but if I try the same login I use to get here I can't get into Safe Mode, so I have no access there really. Any other way I can do this?

I think I may have found what it is. I did a full scan with AVG, MB, and SUPERAS overnight and found out I had a Trojan.TDSS I did a quick scan after rebooting with MB but it came up again so I just canceled the scan a few seconds after it found the infections. I saved the long file anyway, but I'll do a Quick or Full Scan if necessary.

This is a nasty rootkit. We may have trouble removing it
Most would recommend a reformat and reinstall

Make sure Spybot's Teatimer function is disabled

We need to disable Spybot S&D's "TeaTimer"
TeaTimer works by preventing ANY changes to the system. It will attempt to undo any fixes we run, because it blocks these fixes from running.

In order to safeguard your system from problems that can be brought on by a half finished fix, we need to disable TeaTimer. We can reenable it when we're done if you like.
  • Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.
  • Click Posted Image and then on "Advanced Mode"
    Posted Image
  • You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press Posted Image
  • Click on Posted Image
  • Click on Posted Image
  • Uncheck this checkbox:
    Posted Image
  • Close/Exit Spybot Search and Destroy
If teatimer was already off proceed with this next

Download and run:

RootRepeal
documention:
http://rootrepeal.googlepages.com/

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12709

Please download
HERE, and download RootRepeal.zip to your Desktop.
Tutorial with images ,if needed >> L@@K.
Unzip that,(7-zip tool if needed) and then click RootRepeal.exe to open the scanner.
Next click on the Report tab, now click on Scan. A Window will open asking what to include in the scan. Check all of the below and then click OK.

Drivers
Files
SSDT
Hidden Services

Now you'll be asked which drive to scan. Check C: and click OK again and the scan will start. Please be patient as the scan runs. When the scan has finished, click on Save Report.
Name the log RootRepeal.txt and save it to your Documents folder (it should automatically save it there).
Please copy and paste that into your next reply.

I put asterisks in part of the log since it contains my name in the path, I left the original log untouched though.

First thing to do is just update mbam
Run Root Repeal and just select Files
In the Root Repeal window, use your mouse and highlight

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\hjgruiskylwqdq.sys

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\kbpaaawa.sys

Next right mouse click on it and select *wipe file* option only then immediately reboot the computer
Then as quick as you can, run a scan with mbam

When I ran it I never found C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\kbpaaawa.sys. I found the first one though and my computer has been problem free for the past few weeks. Thanks for the help.
