Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

this the message i get after reformatting my c drive

dell vostro 1700 xp


where do i get a compatible xp dvd decoder?

There was one decoder I found but I don't think it is legal to share keys even though the page was legal. Anyway, it was from 2006 so I don't think it will play new DVDs. I recommend downloading VLC Player. It is standalone but has the potential of playing most videos types (including DVDs) without installing extra programs.

Try KMPlayer or Windows Media Classic ;)
