front headphone jack

I have replaced mt mobo and everything is good to go accept i have no sound. When i try to setup my speakers, xp is telling me that i have headphones plugged into the front headphone jack. ive tried unplugging the front head phone jack and it dosent change anything any suggestions would be helpful thanks...jeremy :thumbsup:

What is the exact message you receive, please?

I've never known XP to care whether anything was connected to any sound terminals or not.
