slow pc

hi, everyone.

could anyone tell me why my pc runs so slow.
dell dimension 2400. 128mb ram
2.2 celoron processor.
tryed an new HD not that.
the pc ran ok then slowed down so i formatted it and it took 6hrs to put xp back on and it still runs slow.
i mean slow takes 5 mins to start up and about the same time, for a app to open up.

i know it need more ram but what could be the problem when it was ok before with what it has in it.

try using selective startup. click start, and click on "run". then type "msconfig". click the "startup" tab, and disable any programs that arent neccesary to automoatically startup.
