Hello, i recently reformatted my laptop and put a fresh install of windows on it thinking that might solve the issue but it continues. I'll start to play a game and then just a few minutes into it it will just power down completely. It doesn't do this with anything else and some small games like Plants vs Zombies that don't take much resources will run fine, but any real game doesnt.

One thing to note is that it no longer holds any charge at all, so i'm thinking it might be the battery causing all this, but I want to be certain before i go spending money.

its an HP NC6000
Specs are 1.7ghz (i think) celeron
512mb of ram
40gb HD
32mb radeon card

Since your battery might have a problem, have you tried to play the games with your laptop plugged into a power socket (not feeding from battery)?
And how does your CPU do while playing those games? Could be the reason due to overheating?

it does the same when its plugged in cuz it has to b plugged in to even turn on since the battery is like totally dead, dont think its overheating because it'll do it even if i have just turned the computer on after having it sit for a long time
